This week we’re back with one of my most cherished features: the “Meet the Denizens” series. It's a collection of interviews spotlighting the remarkable, talented, and inspiring individuals within our Denizen community. This week we are getting to know Lena Levchiy — a local Düsseldorf artist whose unique pieces are currently exhibited (and available for purchase!) at Denizen Artol .

Welcome to Denizen,  Lena !

Lena is a cheerful human being with a very diverse life experience, who has always been interested in real people, how the world works and life itself here and now. She is convinced that we came into this world to live a happy and fulfilling life, so she cherishes every day.

Lena describes herself in 3 words as: bright, long, creative.

What is your guilty pleasure?

"I believe that pleasant and aesthetic things make our lives better. Even if they are unhealthy or useless. Positive emotions can compensate for this. I can’t imagine my day without a good cup of coffee and some suitable sweetness."

What is your favourite season?

"I really love summer. It brings warm weather and sunshine, perfect for spending time outdoors. Whether it's swimming, hiking, having picnics, or simply relaxing in the park, the warm weather invites us to enjoy nature and fresh air. I love summer also because the days are longer and I can watch the sunset sitting outside. It brings me a pleasant feeling of calm and balance, and the warm colors of the setting sun warm my soul."

What would be your “keyword” for Düsseldorf?

"Dynamic"

What is the city/country you want to travel to and why?

 “I would really like to see New York. It seems to me that this city has a completely different scale than the cities that I have seen so far. I'm interested in its architecture and crazy rhythm of life. I would like to plunge into this atmosphere and feel what it is like to go to work in Manhattan every day and climb to the 100th floor. I'm immediately reminded of the film "The Walk", in which a French tightrope walker experiences the happiest moments of his life on a tightrope stretched between two twin towers. He feels the presence of the dynamic, noisy New York under his feet, but on a tightrope he manages to soar over the entire city and come to a state of absolute calm. This should be great.“

 “My family, freedom of expression and opportunity to choose“

What do you like about Denizen?

 “I like space. It's well organized and cozy. I like that everyone can choose the right place for themselves. Be it a desk, a cozy chair at a small table or my favorite window seat.“
