You are invited to the opening of Rooting for You, a solo exhibition by Ivona Schmidt Pelajic, on 10 September 2026 from 18:00 at Denizen Berlin, Köpenicker Straße 40.

The exhibition brings together the latest works from Schmidt Pelajic’s ongoing Roots series alongside her paintings of plants and landscapes. Starting from the intimate ecosystem of plants on her windowsill, Pelajic’s work expands towards the wider ecosystems of Tempelhofer Feld and the cities of Berlin and Gothenburg. In her paintings, roots and networks become a way of exploring connection, memory, transformation and the invisible relationships that exist beneath the visible surface, emerging from a sense of lost belonging and from moving through space and time.

Ivona Schmidt Pelajic is a Croatian artist and painter based in Berlin. She holds an Mag.Art. in Fine Art Education and Painting and an MFA in Child Culture Design. Her practice moves between painting, participatory art projects and creating child-centered installations. In her work, she explores relationships between humans, places and living systems, often using familiar landscapes and everyday environments as starting points for exploring memory and the unseen connections beneath the surface.

The opening will feature a live sound performance by Fredrik Stjernqvist. Rooting for You will be on view at Denizen for two weeks following the opening.
