What to Expect:

Explore storytelling with watercolor by embracing the medium’s unpredictable nature and allowing images to emerge gradually. Develop a deeper understanding of both narrative and watercolor techniques through a focus on process and atmosphere.

Learn foundational watercolor techniques such as washes, layering, and color mixing. Each class focuses on one technique and uses it to explore a narrative concept. Exercises emphasize brush control, transparency, and compositional decisions, with a strong focus on hands-on practice and repetition. Techniques are introduced clearly and applied immediately, making the workshop accessible to beginners while remaining open-ended. Sessions balance short demonstrations with extended practice and individual feedback.

Together we will explores concepts of transformation, journeys and personal narrative. Through playful exercises, participants learn to treat accidents and restraint as part of the creative process. The focus remains on exploration: understanding how watercolor behaves and how a sense of story can emerge visually.

Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to brush control and expressive washes: Capturing Change
  • Layering and transparency: Journeys and Paths
  • Narrative through color and mood: Emotional Landscapes
  • Small personal project: Stories in / about Water
